At the intersection of Central and Alondra sits an unexpected pilot's paradise. Located in the heart of Compton, sits an airfield that isn't pristine, planes that aren’t new, but everything has grit. Over the past couple years, I’ve immersed myself in the camaraderie of this community. This community is propelled by persistence and doing whatever it takes to make something work.My images explore the spirit of aviation through portraits of pilots and patrons in their natural environments. This documentary series sheds light on the overlooked pilots of the Compton Airport, whose passion for flight has built a community unlike no other. Through my photographs, I hope to inspire others to see the beauty at the corner of Central and Alondra.
